Abstract:
The present study evaluated the prevalence of tinnitus and the use of audio devices among the population of Córdoba.
A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted with a sample of 1402 participants, collecting data through a survey administered via Google Forms. Participants answered questions about hearing check-ups, tinnitus, and the use of audio devices. The analysis was carried out using statistical software to evaluate frequencies and percentages, in addition to performing cross-sectional analysis to examine the relationships between the variables.
The results showed that 53.1% of the population has had hearing checks, and that 4.2% experience tinnitus constantly, while 75.9% experience it occasionally. Additionally, 60.8% of respondents use audio devices regularly, with headphones being the most common. Although a possible relationship between the use of audio devices and the prevalence of tinnitus was initially observed, statistical analysis did not confirm a significant association (p = 0.2290). It is important to note that the sample had disparities in age, gender, and educational level, which could have affected the results and representativeness. The Demographic analysis revealed that young people and men report a higher prevalence of tinnitus compared to other groups.
In conclusion, it is important to highlight that the results obtained underline the importance of implementing hearing protection measures and promoting safe practices for the use of audio devices.
