Abstract

This work aimed to explore the level of knowledge and appraisal of biodiversitypossessed by a group of students in the last years of their teaching training courses ofBiological Sciences and Geography in the province of Buenos Aires. The research wasbased on the analysis of a questionnaire composed of five items, which considered theconcept of biodiversity, its benefits, and the causes and consequences of its degradation andenvironments with the greatest biodiversity in Argentina. By means of the results obtained,it was possible to determine that the students express simplified concepts, focused mainlyon diversity, with an ecological and anthropocentric view. The limited consideration of thesocio-cultural aspects of biodiversity is remarkable. While the main causes of the loss ofbiodiversity are considered, the introduction of exotic species provides little attention.
