Cinema of Cordoba, Interview, Sergio SchmuclerAbstract
Córdoba has produced few filmmakers as prolific as Sergio Schmucler who, throughout his career, has tackled different genres in almost all forms of production: from pure fiction with La Herencia (2008) and La sombra azul (2012), to collectively produced documentaries such as Guachos de la calle: Memorias del desarraigo (2015) or self-produced as Canción de Mariano (2007), always with an explicit political commitment as a common brand. It could be said that Schmucler's cinema participates in this somewhat weak but quickly identifiable category of political cinema, although without making it a banner of party militancy or a commercial sales strategy.
In the following interview, the director discusses his own history with cinema and his working methods.
