Abstract

This work consists of an analysis of assignments aimed at university students of Biological Sciences. These tasks require the use, reading or production of the figurative nature of graphic representations. This study was carried out in two complementary stages: firstly, we focused on the characterization of the representational nature of the graphic information, and secondly we focused on their levels of processing. With this analysis we present some considerations about the importance of the use of figurative representations for the teaching of these sciences, as well as the potential cognitive richness that working with those representations has in the university classroom.
