This special issue is dedicated to Dr. Elías Ramón De La Sota, who not only laid the foundation for the study
of ferns in Argentina but also became a leading figure in the discipline throughout Latin America. Ten years after his passing, it is inspiring to see the quality of research conducted by scientists in the region reflected in the
