A Healthy Diet: An Experience for Approaching the Construction of New Concepts

Abstract

It is important that High School education provide useful concepts in order to learn healthy eating habits. To this aim, we have designed a proposal to be applied in 5th grade of high school as part of Natural Sciences contents. The proposal consisted of three stages aiming at: inquiring and activating inclusive concepts, giving students access to useful information for their building up of supporting concepts, and getting students closer to those concepts which will constitute the basis for developing new ideas related to healthy eating habits. The analysis of results suggests that this experience allowed students to build up some ideas related to healthy eating habits, although more work is required to learn about this topic.
