Abstract

An environmental education program aimed at the population of Freyre (Córdoba, Argentina) and at the education community of primary and special schools is presented. Said program was developed in order to support a municipal project for the separation of household waste at origin that had been conducted in Freyre. The program was carried out in two stages: a diagnostic stage and a stage in which the intervention is elaborated and executed. During the initial stage, the previous knowledge of the involved people as well as their habitual behaviour as regards waste were studied. How these topics are treated at school was also investigated. The obtained results allowed the design of an educational intervention, which considered the development of different strategies and activities oriented to students and teachers of the schools and to families of Freyre.
