“Mínimo Común Mediático”. Premises and definitions of cultural memory

This article proposes the concept of the “Mínimo Común Mediático” (MCM) as a key cultural phenomenon in late capitalism, based on the theories of Mikhail Bakhtin, Fredric Jameson, and Jean Baudrillard.
The MCM refers to the transmission of shared cultural fragments that sustain social relations in an era marked by the fragmentation of grand narratives and the perpetual present.
Through the analysis of memes about Argentine nationalism on Reddit, the article explores how these cultural products condense collective imaginaries and revitalize shared identities.
The MCM, an original concept introduced here, facilitates the explanation of cultural memory and social cohesion in the society of late capitalism.
