Sp.Issue 2024: Ferns

SPECIAL ISSUE BULLETIN OF THE ARGENTINE SOCIETY OF BOTANY

"New trends in the study of Neotropical ferns and lycophytes: multidisciplinary approaches to their knowledge and conservation".

Ferns and lycophytes are among the most charismatic groups of vascular plants because of their fascinating evolutionary history, their role in past and present ecosystems, their propagation and dispersal strategies, their morphological and physiological characteristics, as well as their traditional uses. Particularly in the Neotropics, they constitute an important component of the flora, with this region harboring several hotspots of taxon richness and endemism. However, most species are particularly vulnerable to the accelerated modification and loss of natural habitats and changes in different climatic variables, as a result of direct or indirect human action. For this reason, research on ferns and lycophytes in this area takes on special relevance, both in the race against time for knowledge and conservation, as well as for the need to have good information for sustainable management of the resource.

In this context, the editorial committee of the Boletín de la Sociedad Argentina de Botánica invites the scientific community to participate in the special volume dedicated to gather and disseminate the most recent advances in the scientific knowledge of ferns and lycophytes of the Neotropical region and related areas.
Original research articles, reviews, opinion articles and short communications will be accepted. Topics of interest for this special volume include, but are not limited to:

- Taxonomy and Systematics
- Morphology and Anatomy
- Ecology and conservation
- Physiology and biochemistry
- Phylogeny and evolution
- Ethnobotany
- Palynology

Articles should be submitted through the BSAB submission system.
The deadline for receipt of articles is March 15, 2024.
