Fear and limits of reality in Poison for fairies

Abstract

Veneno para las hadas (Poison for fairies, 1984), the last film of Mexican director Carlos Enrique Taboada, holds links with fantastic, horror and fairy tales, without constraining itself to any given genre. Two girls establish a bond based on power which puts at risk their worldview when one of them sustains that she is a witch. In this work, we approach relations between reality and imagination as they appear embodied in the protagonists, and how these relate to fantastic and horror genres.
