Abstract

Abstract
11is paper descnbes the net for the popularization of science and technology in Latin America and the Caribbean (POP/UNESCO), which is in operation in the Region since 1990. hiere have been significant challenges in Latin America dealing with political, social, and economical aspecis; and nowadays they occur
frequently as a consequence of the rapid cultural transformations which take place in the world. One such
challenge amis to achieve the incorporation of science and technology as an integral part of the culture in
Latin American countries. To achicve the incorporation of society to a science an technology culture it is
necessary to generate divulge strategies capable of movilizing the political, institutional, social, and economical structures, so as to understand the complex and global situatioris which affect the world. The
science and technoLogy literacy constitutes nowadays a social and etliical right of humankind.
