Abstract

Connecting science with daily life, school science with the mass media and advertising in particular is a strategy for teaching science aiming at civic education. This work analyzes an experience in initial teacher education based on 3 television advertising spots used as teaching resources, coordinating the educational actions of two subjects: Evolutionary Biology and Education Didactics - Practice. The results obtained show significant achievements in terms of learning basic biological concepts in the field of biological evolution, as well as of raising the awareness of teachers-to-be about the importance of targeting a teaching of science binding with functional everyday life, contributing to civic education.
