Abstract

The relevance of students' interests, their attitude toward science and their commitment to learning are important aspects in Education. This paper aims to perform an analysis of students' opinions about Biology, their relationship with teachers and the availability of educational resources. In this context, we conducted a survey to 224 students from four high schools in the City of Bariloche. Although differences were found in students' interests between the first and the last years, they were not substantial. The lack of interest seems to be related to the difficulty of the issues discussed and the relationship with the teacher, as well as the lack of resources. This paper represents an initial step that would make headway on the recognition of deeper reasons for interests and attitudes toward Biology
