Survey on Biologist Training at the National University of Córdoba: are we prepared for the current challenges?

Abstract

We show the results of a survey carried on a population of 85 graduates on Biology at the Universidad National de Córdoba intended their opinion about the training received during the career. Data were collected by means of a partial-direct survey. The survey was carried on the basis of individual questionnaires with open questions, which were sent to and received from the graduates by electronic mail. Results indicate that 80% of the people surveyed is comfortably with their present professional activities. However, 72% considered that the training received during the career was not adequate enough for dealing with present opportunities and demand. It was remarked that the career provided an adequate training for research and teaching activities but inadequate for activities related to environmental and resources management and consultancy activities.
