This tribute aims to analyze bell hooks’ educational approach, in view of her proposals for dialectical interaction between theoretical knowledge and experiences in the educational field. The text brings as methodology a theoretical approach, with her reflections on decolonization in education and, in addition, Paulo Freire’s influence on her thoughts. From the analyzes carried out, we understand that maintaining the legacy of bell hooks to achieve a transgressive education is fundamental. Her thoughts are part of the path to education as practice of freedom.
