Resumo

A displasia do desenvolvimento do quadril (DDQ) é uma patologia freqüente que afeta 4 em cada 1.000 nascidos vivos sendo também uma causa reconhecida de osteoartrite secundária do quadril, apesar dos controles perinatais de rotina.

Na maioria dos pacientes, o diagnóstico precoce dessa patologia permite uma evolução sem sequelas. Porém, o diagnóstico tardío com várias intervenções cirúrgicas acaba sendo um verdadeiro desafio para o ortopedista pela presença da fise aberta, os núcleos de ossificação presentes e as cirurgias prévias na área de abordagem.

Relatamos embaixo o caso de um paciente com tratamento no nosso centro desde o nascimento, que evoluiu com complicações associadas ao diagnóstico tardio e as intervenções cirúrgicas, descrevendo a cirurgia de resgate realizada aos 12 anos de idade e, finalmente, destacando a importância dos perinatais de rotina e do diagnóstico precoce da DDQ.
