Abstract

The potabilization procedure forms part of the basic contents of Biology in EGB 3 and it is important due to the development of carcinogenic subproducts. Chlorine removes or inactivates the pathogen organisms, however this, in 1970 it was discovered that its application carries a risk for health due to the formation of trihalomethanes (THM). In this work, the concentration of THM indoors in San Juan´s city, is determined using gas chromatography. The samples analyzed were from different locations of the network of water distribution and one indoor swimming pool. High values for the concentration of these compounds were found.
