Abstract

This article is based on a question: how the concept of ecology has been configured?To answer it, the aspects that have brought forward advances both in science and insubjects such as biology, ethnobotany, zoology and ecology have been taken into account.The definition of ecology has been influenced by its structuring concepts, as well as by theparadigms that have also been subject to transformation throughout history and whichhave finally enabled a different perspective to understand life and living beings. In this way,we can identify some of the characteristics of natural history that are related to ecologywhen studying organisms, along with the influence exerted by theories that promoted asystemic view of reality
