Analysis of Practical Activities Proposed in Biology Textbooks

Abstract

The use of practical activities at school is favoured when there are some proposalsin the Textbooks used. Considering the importance of the students’ active role in thelearning of science, this work aims to analyze the practical activities related to Cell Biologypresented in high school Textbooks. The analyzed books are the first volumes of eightBrazilian collections approved by the National Textbook Programme (PNLD), 2012. Weidentified 41 practical activities, with heterogeneous patterns in the presentation of thetasks, as well as some differences in their location and structure within the collections. Theexperimental and demonstrative activities about cellular processes and the observationand representation of cellular shapes and components are frequent.
