Abstract

In fields such as Chemistry and Biology, the need to implement educational models to materialize certain abstractions or intangible aspects for the purpose of logical thought arises frequently. In this paper, we describe an educational experiment carried out in the Organic Chemistry classroom (1st year of the curriculum, 1st four-month period of 2016) of the National University of Río Negro. In this specific case, traditional theoretical lessons by teachers and laboratory experiments were supplemented with the construction of molecular models made by students -with Plasticine, styrofoam, wire and other elements- and with seminars where publications about carbohydrates were discussed. Strategic innovations were very highly valued by students.
