Abstract

Through the study of the evolution of the concept of spectator we can discover the road this category went through to become the “interactor” of interactive productions, which become more and more important in the field of arts. These concepts are deeply rooted in –and are the result of– socio-historical conditions. As part of the recent trends in interactive production, we study the fictions made for video games, and particularly two of them that draw on experimentation and aesthetic searches: Art Games and Newsgames. Reviewing the concepts mentioned above, we intend to assess their capabilities and expressive potential. We also seek to search for possible classifications based on products developed so far
