Abstract

This research is a short review on three penitentiary magazines during the Restoration in Spain: Penitentiary Magazine, Penal World, and Penitentiary Progress. This series of sources have not been brought to the attention of social and law historians and we do believe they constitute a very useful tool to understand the functioning of the penitentiary system established in Spain during that period. Our aim is to bring this reach and great documentary body and the possibilities of cutting edge research involved to the attention of researchers.
