Abstract

The following article presents preliminary results of an analysis of the speech characteristics of Freyre, Córdoba, due to the presence of Piedmontese immigration in the locality. The preservation of their mother tongue, Piedmontese, was in contact with the Spanish language since the foundation of the colony. In this way, we hope to answer the question: What is happening with the Piedmontese language in Freyre?

A historical journey is made to observe the development of the Piedmontese language within the territory from the linguistic policies implemented and the subsequent linguistic planning carried out by the Piedmontese Associations.

This work is part of a Final Degree Project of the Bachelor's Degree in Language and Literature of the National University of Villa María, which focuses on the study of the speech of the linguistic community in historical contact with the Piedmontese language and the Spanish language in the town of Freyre, Córdoba, Argentina. The study is based on data collected from interviews and questionnaires carried out within the framework of a Grant for the Stimulation of Scientific Vocations of the National Council (CIN), approved according to Resolution P. No. 452/22 of the CIN, during the period 2022-2023.
