Based on a text provided by the editorial board of Polémicas Feministas to trigger debate, four leading cultural figures from Córdoba, Argentina, discuss the complex relationships between identity politics and marketing strategies in the context of the LGBTIQNB+ community's struggle for their rights.

Author Biographies

Karol Zingali, Oficina De Artistas (ODA)

Karol Zingali is an Argentinean music/cultural producer and artist. Since 2008 she runs Oficina De Artistas (ODA): an agency dedicated to the production and creation of content for music and art from Argentina-Latin America. Founding member of MMF Latam - Latin American Association of Music Managers. Since 2018 she works in alliance with Mirmidón from Spain - an agency specialised in roots music - for the creation of tours/concerts and the crossover between artists from Spain-Latam. Director of Pamm Music Market, a programme of professional exchange and export of music. She is the creator and producer of several festivals and programmes such as Festival Mujeres al Griego, M Festival de Montaña, Tamboreras -Women to the Drums, Retiro de la Patagonia, Semana del Cuarteto con Perspectiva de Género, manager of the percussionist Vivi Pozzebón and artist in "Pequeño Bambi", a queer punk and performance project.

Claudia Aguilera, Museo Provincial de Bellas Artes Emilio Caraffa

Claudia G. Aguilera is a lesbian artivist, independent art producer and curator. She has participated in feminist and LGBTIQNB+ collectives, has organised festivals, film cycles, awareness-raising workshops, radio programmes, book illustrations, posters, actions in public spaces, etc. She participated in the preliminary draft of Law No. 9.283 on Family Violence, which was passed in the province of Cordoba in 2006 to prevent, punish and eradicate violence against women in the family and interpersonal relationships. She was part of TAF (Feminist Art Workers). She is currently part of the Proyecto de Archivos Feminismos Cordobeses and since 2008 she has been working as a producer at the Museo Provincial de Bellas Artes Emilio Caraffa.

Vir del Mar, Librería ¡Escándalo!

Vir del Mar is a transvestite living in Córdoba. She manages the Escándalo! bookshop, a space for the dissemination and sale of literature with LGBTIQNBA+ and transfeminist curatorship. She has a degree in Theatre from the National University of Córdoba. She teaches at Proyecto Libido, sings in the poetic-musical duo faunosirena and writes for the digital media "La Tinta". In 2021 she published her first collection of poems "Sirena de Atelier" by Inflorescencia Editorial.

Daniel Tortosa, Universidad Nacional de Córdoba

 

Daniel Tortosa is an LGBT activist, film and TV graduate, teacher and researcher at the National University of Córdoba, Argentina. He is the director of the documentary Los Maricones (Córdoba, 2016).
