Abstract

Thc risk factors of arterial disease (FREA) predict a future damage over the vascular system of the human body. Its detection are considered a key for the diagnostie as wcll as for the prcven(ive and cvcn curative sirategies. For a long time, scientist considercd those factors originated as a consecuence of large stuclies during the rniddle of the last eentury, with currermt validity up to our days. A simple classification spoke of them as traditionais. Further investigations described the so called new or eniergents.factors that where joint together accordingly to their actions: coagulation factors, psicosocial, inflamatories and infectíous. A recent classification, taking into account the type of impact, divideci thcm into: causatives predisposais and conditionals. Also, it vas dcscribed a mechanism, the oxidative power, with consccuences over the endothelium, in the last part of the process. Before, anothcr mechanism vas describcd: the insulin rcsistance and ilie hiperinsulinism, bases for the Mctaboiic Synciromc, that inclucles a number of traditional risk factors.
