Abstract

This work introduces a proposal of methodology developed for the analysis of visual representations included in different instruc-tional materials used in physics at university. Representations determine the construction of scientific knowledge, so the devel-opment of strategies that allow studying them is a priority in science education research. The methodological design imple-mented allowed the typing of 356 representations present in 51 instructional materials and the recognition of the uses and the amount of information of 191 graphics. The potentiality of this proposal lies in the empirical categorization of visual representa-tions based on objective data and the identification of possible learning obstacles.
