Abstract

The aim of this paper is to report and discuss qualitative methodological procedures used in naturalistic research. It is based on two studies concemed with an innovative approach in teaching introductory physics at university leve!, which use videotape recording for data collection.

The paper describes the procese of data analysis from a qualitative perspective and goes on to reflect on, and discuss, procedures of analysis of videotaped data in the context of educational research in the field of physics education at university leve!.
