Abstract

For the study of fluid mechanics in educational institutions, having a wind tunnel provides a great tool for understanding complex flows. Commercial tunnels intended mainly for use in research laboratories are very expensive, making their access for use in the educational field very difficult. In this work, we present a prototype of a subsonic, open-type, suction wind tunnel, along with a proposal for a visualization activity of the Magnus effect. The design of the tunnel, its subsequent construction using easily accessible and low-cost materials, and its characterization and use in various experiments such as the one proposed, has educational purposes.
