The curriculum review as an evaluation approach of accreditation programs intended to accredit the nursing licentiate degree essay

ABSTRACT
In the evaluation processes for the accreditation of university courses, specifically of those courses included in the Higher Education Law No. 24521, as it is the case of the undergraduate Nursing Licentiate course, the assessment models come from pre-established standards. These standards are elaborated by experts in the field who determine the justification of the
courses of studies, the graduate’s profile, the scope of the degree and of the curriculum of the course of studies, among others. Inspired by the desire to comply with these standards, the self-evaluation, which takes place before the external evaluation to provide accreditation, seeks to analyze the curriculum so that it can be adapted to the assessment models. To achieve a full understanding of the meaning of the curricular evaluation, not only is it important to clearly understand it as a concept and to understand the published standards that regulate it, but it is also necessary to work towards the awareness of all the involved participants and their commitment to the resolution of the issues that the curriculum faces as a process and as a projected written document.
