Resumo

A comunidade de pesquisa arqueológica foi uma das primeiras a adotar ferramentas digitais para aquisição de dados, organização, análise e apresentação de resultados de pesquisa de projetos individuais. Entretanto, o fornecimento de infraestrutura e serviços eletrônicos para compartilhamento, descoberta, acesso e reutilização de dados ficou para trás. Essa situação foi abordada pela Infraestrutura de Pesquisa ARIADNE. Desenvolvida com financiamento europeu, a ARIADNE criou uma infraestrutura eletrônica que permite que os provedores de dados se registrem e forneçam acesso aos seus recursos digitais por meio do portal de dados da ARIADNE, facilitando a descoberta, o acesso e a pesquisa. A ARIADNE agregou recursos de mais de 45 provedores de dados, abrangendo mais de 40 países e 4 continentes. O portal agora oferece acesso on-line a mais de 3,9 milhões de recursos de pesquisa. Ele se baseia em tecnologias de dados abertos vinculados e é sustentado por uma arquitetura flexível e extensível, que permite várias combinações e apresentações dos mesmos dados subjacentes. Fizemos questão de não "fazer um grande amontoado" de todos os dados e, aprendendo com projetos anteriores de agregação de dados, definimos um subconjunto do CIDOC CRM para ser usado como uma ontologia rigorosa e prestamos muita atenção aos padrões de dados e vocabulários controlados para obter um alto grau de interoperabilidade.
