Abstract

Refugio Libertad is a community space that operates on the grounds of the former 141st Artillery Group of the Army, which belongs to the Military Manufacturing Department (specifically the Río Tercero Military Factory) of the Ministry of Defense. It is located in a rural area 55 km south of the city of Córdoba, on the north bank of the Los Molinos River reaching the José de la Quintana Dam. It borders the towns and ejidos of José de la Quintana (to the north and northwest), Villa San Isidro (to the northeast) and Los Molinos (to the south); all of them with less than 1,000 inhabitants. The community experience in this space involves work along several lines: from historical memory work to sustainable production with the families in the area. At present, Refugio Libertad is also a different experience of emerging memory sites, which express non-state modes of management, but community ones. As its online site states: "In March 2020, with the presence of Nora Cortiñas, the organization marked for the first time the building of the ex-Enfermería as a Clandestine Center (it is the most named space in the testimonies that make up the ongoing judicial investigation)".
