Abstract

This article presents some of the results of a research work carried out on
the mastering and usage of New technologies by students,“future teachers”, in
a teacher training institute for Primary level. This research was done during the years 2008 and 2009 in the city of Cordoba Argentina. Throughout the
investigation, the group and its social characteristics were studied and related
to its technological competence. Besides it was possible to identify in this group the real access to technology and a meaningful usage of it, especially the use of personal computers and the internet. The previously analysed aspects show that the digital competence is strongly conditioned more by the very education process of these students during their years in the teacher training institutions, than by their social- characteristics and their access to technology.
