Abstract

Results from research in physics education have indicated that at all levels of instruction there is often a wide gap between the physics that student have been taugh and that they have  learned. These findings suggest the presence of another type of discrepancy in physics instruction. Is there a mismatch between how we teach and how students learn? The answer to this question has a direct bearing on any effort to introduce topics from modern physics into the standard currículum. In this patern, the argument is made that the way in which physics is traditionally taught is not well mat Results from research in physics education have indicated that at all levels of instruction there is often a wide gap between the physics that student specialy at introductory level.
