Abstract

 On account of difficulties  found in the teaching-learning process, it is judged desirable and even necessary for teachers to have sane knowledge about the psychological characteristics of the learner in order to help him fulfill the active process of learning Therefore, three  omprensive psychological trends along with their main devoters, viz., the Asociationist  theories of stimulus response  (Skinner), the  cognitive theories (Piaget, Ausebel)   and the humanist theories (Rogers)  are summarily presented in this paper and their main  characteristics explained.
