Review Process

EVALUATION OF ARTICLES

All articles submitted are reviewed by the editorial committee, which is responsible for assessing the thematic relevance and adequacy to the editorial standards upheld by the journal. Originals that meet these standards and are accepted by the Editorial Committee are evaluated by experienced referees from outside the committee, maintaining the anonymity of the author and the evaluator in a double-blind process. If a submission is not accepted by the Editorial Committee, the article will not continue with the evaluation process.

The evaluator assesses the article following a form sent to him/her for this purpose, in which multiple variables are analysed, including: originality of the work, academic relevance, coherence, theoretical-conceptual consistency, clarity, synthesis capacity and other aspects. This evaluation results in a report on the article, which may be: rejected, accepted with minor revisions, accepted with substantial revisions, or accepted without modifications. If the article is accepted with modifications, the author must make the corresponding corrections so that the article can be evaluated again.

The evaluation period is approximately 3 months, from the moment the editorial committee accepts the receipt of an article. Then, the time granted to the author to make the corrections marked by the evaluator is 20 days, being able to request one or up to two extensions of the same amount of days, requests to be analysed by the editorial committee.

The reception of articles of free subject matter takes place throughout the year, and the call for dossier articles opens during the months of March or April. The publication of each year's issue of the journal may vary, but it is published in November and December, and whenever a call for papers is made, the date of publication is always stated.

Pathos journal encourages the development of good editorial practices, one of the pillars of which is an anti-plagiarism policy. By submitting an article, the author consents to it being examined by our editorial committee with the aim of detecting plagiarism or self-plagiarism. Compliance with the rules is a condition for receiving an article.
