The territories of the kiwifruit in the southeast of the province of Buenos Aires (Argentina): expansion and productive reconfiguration

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyze the features of the expansion of kiwifruit cultivation in the southeast of the province of Buenos Aires (Argentina) and the productive agents in the different phases of its development, because it is a global crop immersed in restructuring processes that have affected agriculture in our country. The methodology responds to a preferably qualitative approach and is based on the triangulation of data from primary and secondary sources. The results show the origin and transformation processes of the kiwal territories, the composition of the productive agents in different stages and their territorial configuration. The process of expansion and productive reconfiguration that this crop is going through and the trends that explain the arrival of new agents and the permanence alternatives of other producers are discussed. The results show an innovative crop in a territory that lacks fruit tradition and its sustained expansion in a scenario defined by a complex network of individual, collective and institutional actors.
