Origins, ups and downs, challenges and possibilities of Latin American urban political ecologies

Abstract

In this article we are interested in sharing some critical reflections in relation to Latin American urban political ecology. To this end, we start from bibliographical reviews in order to situate the debates, and then we stop in the systematization of what was registered during the IV Latin American Congress of Political Ecology, particularly in the development of the Line of Discussion: Networks, urbanization and space, both in the face-to-face and virtual modality, as part of the inclusion of an urban axis. Based on this, we focus on certain reverberations of political ecology in the urban as resonances, the opening to other theoretical-methodological approaches that enable other ways of building knowledge between fields and between knowledge, not only from academia but in relation to groups and social movements. We believe that this journey can be an enriching contribution both in terms of situating current debates and in highlighting new meaning to the framework that urban political ecology is building.
