Paper watermarks and countermarks in the documents of the Junta de Temporalidades (1767-1785)

Abstract

This work aims to study and diplomatic analysis of paper watermarks or filigrans and countermarks, taking into account the value of showing the same diplomat. These are printed on sheets of paper found in the documents of the Junta de Temporalidades de Córdoba written between 1767 and 1785.

Our interest lies not only because one of these external components that make the hardware of writing, they also constitute one of the crucial features to determine the principle of provenance and authenticity of documents, being this one of the main objects of analysis of Diplomacy. We will use as base of this work the paper filigranes found in the documentation of temporary AHPC, AGHUNC and Bishop Pablo Cabrera Documentary Fund (ex Instituto Americanista) in order to identify them according the motives, forms, drawings and figures, his location and dimensions in the sheets to be able to investigate across them, what origin had the paper that was circulating in this part of the Indies during the 18th century.
