Abstract

in general, and in Rosario in particular the option market. This will be done through the analysis of the formation of the stock company Mercado General de Productos Nacionales during the first decade of the 20th century. To some extent, we will be making the history of one of the most interesting initiatives of one local burgeois group to try to settle in their favor the dispute for the appropriation of the huge differential income emerging from the Pampas economy, the conflicts it provoked among the cereal traders, and particularly the relationship it meant with the sector foreign capital reprepital representatives: the large exporters. In this sense, the regulating and arbitrating capacity of the Stock Exchange businessmen, the differentiation among the cereal businessmen, the alliance and opposition lines ant the company history in itself (as well as some aspects of the interbreeding between the institutional logic and the business ventures) are some of the contact points of an approach that basically tries to show some features of the speculative behaviors of the local businessmen and the characteristics of the largest corporation that groups them.
