The author, invited as a commentator on the dossier After Interpretation: Other Materialisms and Ontologies in Current Argentine Archeologies, presents comments and reflections based on reading the articles from the point of view of the role that materials play in their own interpretation. He analyzes in each work the main theoretical proposals from that perspective, the relationship with the materials and their key questions. It ends with an invitation to consider how to work archaeologically with the ideas of the new metaphysics or alternative ontologies and how to construct our categories by letting local materials transform our new theories as our new theories transform our old antecedents, and not the other way around.
