Introduction: The access to the university supposes an important change in the student that can rebound in his style of life, mainly the feeding and the physical activity. Course objective: To describe the nutritional situation in the first year students of the three careers of the Faculty of Medicine (UNNE). Material and method: Quantitative, descriptive and transversal study. The sample was made up of 10% of the students in the first year of each race considered as a conglomerate, chosen at random. For data collection a form was used and the weight and height were taken, investigating the variables age, sex, race, daily intake, performance and frequency of physical activity, nutritional status and main food consumed between hours. Results: The data of 90 students from the three careers were analyzed, observing that 53% presented adequate weight, 39% overweight and 8% obesity. 57% did not perform physical activity; women were more active than men; only 27% did it three or more times a week. Regarding the daily food intake, lunch was the most frequent, not the snack, the least consumed. Half of the students reported infusion of mate as the main intake between meals, but 34% resorted to industrialized carbohydrates; only 12% mentioned fruits and derivatives. Conclusions: There are variations of the nutritional status in the first year students of the three careers of the Faculty of Medicine, with alarming data of overweight and obesity. The most affected population is Medicine and male sex.
