Abstract

Gamification is a process where different mechanics and techniques of the identity or essence of game design come into play, which aims to motivate participants to achieve specific purposes. 
There are aspects that do not make a Gamification proposal, in order to design an educational and training experience. Gamification does not precisely imply the creation of a game, it is not a serious game, it is not game theory and it is not fundamentally designing a reward system or loyalty programs.
Game in education challenges the educator to problematize teaching strategies, seeking to achieve the active participation of others. Understanding that playfulness does not emphasize learning content, but rather promoting an environment that encourages each student to build their own knowledge loaded with personal meanings.
Motivation, in relation to Gamification proposals, should never be minimized simply to material rewards for behaviors, taking into account that this leads to continuous frustration for not achieving them. Said motivation can be identified from two types: intrinsic, which arises from factors inherent to people, and extrinsic, which arises from elements external to the person.
The first element that should be consider in the process of designing a Gamification experience is to understand the strong similarity with the didactic planning of activities or specific slogans for different educational proposals or projects that an educator can build. These elements, among others (narrative, dynamics, mechanics, elements, objectives), appear in an articulated way in the
design of a Gamification experience.
