The Analysis of Performances as a Tool for the Study of a Musical Piece
The case of the piano cycle The Seasons by P. I. Tchaikovsky
Keywords:
Musical Interpretation, Music, Piano, Recording AnalysisAbstract
One of the main activities of the performers that is renewed each time a new repertoire is prepared is the listening and analysis of sound records belonging to other players. The intention of this work is, firstly, to reflect on how this attentive listening process develops, what we pay attention to and what it contributes to the performer. Secondly, to propose a possible systematization of this process in order to be useful to other instrumentalists who wish to share their analysis and conclusions in exhibitions, debates, lectures, etc.
