El texto de Larsen busca brindar una descripción de movilidades asociadas a procesos de regionalización e internacionalización que reflejan estos cambios. En este caso, el libro pone especial énfasis en movilidades vinculadas, de una u otra manera, a los rankings mundiales de universidades y la búsqueda de construcción de instituciones educativas de categoría mundial. La autora parte de la suposición de que los mismos son fundamentales para entender los procesos de internacionalización contemporánea observados en diferentes países e incorporados en contextos con diversas trayectorias institucionales.
