THE LIBRARIAN IN THE ECOSYSTEM OF TEACHING AND LEARNING IN TEACHER TRAININGINSTITUTES
Keywords:

In this paper, I invite you to a journey that begins by analyzing the changes that have
occurred in the role of the librarian, to then account for situated practices that take the
library as the epicenter. To this end, the text first addresses a conceptual framework
that enables new perspectives on library work and makes it possible to rethink the
current situation of libraries in Teacher Training Institutes, identifying challenges and
opportunities. The multiple functions that librarians perform, such as selection and
acquisition of materials, organization of information, user orientation, reading promotion
and information literacy, are detailed.
The article presents various strategies and tools that librarians can use to enhance their
role, such as the creation of search guides, guided visits to other information and cultural
units, the organization of workshops and the use of information technologies.
