Abstract

Currently, the Chilean society has established a series of demands which have had repercussions on different areas of public life. In this sense, the State should change its traditional passive and reactive attitude to a proactive one, where the Regions should join in too, drawing up planning instruments with the inclusive participation of all the territorial members. Considering this context, the aim of the present investigation is to identify the demands from the territories belonging to the Metropolitan Region of Santiago, through the compilation, systematization, and analysis of 1,246 statements or arguments from local and regional key members, distributed in seminars, workshops, and meetings. Among the results it is highlighted: the deepening and diversification of participation methods, the local identity strengthening and the development of the territorial governance.
