Imperio, cultura y poder: dos ejemplos de la “nueva” historia seléucida

Resumen

Durante las últimas décadas las investigaciones sobre el imperio seléucida han gozado de una vitalidad sin precedentes, consecuencia de la profunda renovación que el área de estudios ha atravesado. Esta “nueva historia seléucida” ha alcanzado su madurez con la publicación de dos importantes volúmenes colectivos, de los cuales el presente artículo ofrece una recensión. Proponemos que estas obras muestran con claridad tres ejes que, juzgamos, constituyen las principales características de la nueva historia seléucida: la diversificación metodológica y la relectura de las fuentes a partir de nuevas perspectivas, la reflexión sobre la naturaleza estructural del imperio seléucida, y la discusión sobre la posibilidad de definir una identidad propiamente seléucida.
