Article submission

 

 

 

  1. Titles

 

The title of the work will be concise and, if possible, explanatory of the content of the article, capitalized in the first letter (format Type sentence or uppercase / lowercase in Word), without underlining, letter size 12, bold. The main title cannot exceed 150 characters. One must be included in the primary language and another in a secondary language in any of the following combinations: Spanish-English; Portuguese-English; English - Spanish or Portuguese.

 

The primary subtitles will go to the left in uppercase / lowercase, bold, without underlining a double line spacing of the text that precedes them and one of the one that follows.

 

Secondary subtitles should be written in the left margin in italic lowercase.

 

Footnotes from primary or secondary titles are not allowed under any circumstances. These will be automatically deleted from the text and placed in the acknowledgments section.

 

 

  1. Authors

 

Names and full surname of the author / s centred, with an asterisk that refers in the following line to the authors, institutional membership and email. The following format is suggested:

It is recommended to avoid acronyms in institutional affiliation.

 

 

 

  1. Summary and keywords

 

A summary will be included in the main language of the text not less than 150 words and up to 200 words, in normal font, size 12 and another in a secondary language in any of the following combinations: Spanish-English; Portuguese-English; English-Spanish or Portuguese. Five keywords will be included following the same criteria with the languages used in title and summary. Keyword will be separated by semicolons.

Abstracts must be presented in a single paragraph.

 

 

  1. Text

 

The length of the manuscripts may not exceed 10,000 words including the bibliography (which may not exceed 20% of the total in extension).

 

The text format should be presented in a file with Microsoft .doc extension for Word. Spaced 1.5, in A4 size sheets (210 x 297 mm) and 12 size font (in any type). Paragraphs should not be indented and a space will be left between them. Pay particular attention to this.

 

The scientific names of taxa should be written in italics only at the genus and species level: Homo sapiens, Lama guanicoe.

 

Words that are not of the language in which the work is written, the titles of books, magazines or works when they are included in the text and those that the author considers necessary to highlight should also be italicized.

 

Use the metric system for references in text, figures or tables. Metric abbreviations: no end point such as meter: m, centimetre: cm, meters above sea level: masl.

 

The dating results will be expressed according to the example: 2040 ± 75 AP (acronym and Laboratory number, d13C, species on which the analysis was performed if applicable). Calibrated dates should be identified as such, using the cal D.C. or cal A.C. It should be indicated if the calibration is done with 1 sigma or with 2 sigmas and present the calibrated age as a range of the calendar age.

 

Cardinal points: in Spanish and uppercase, its abbreviation without a dot (i.e use O for West instead of W.). All numbers above 9 (nine) must be expressed in Indoarabic numbers and numbers zero through nine can be expressed in words. Ordinal numbers are always expressed in words (third, fourth ...).

 

At the end of the article, before acknowledgments or bibliography, the place of residence (or production of the article) of the author or of the work team, and date of end of writing, as:

Text quotes

 

Text quotes will be enclosed in quotes and when they exceed three lines, they will be inserted in a separate paragraph, with a space above and another below, and with left margin to an indent.

 

 

Figures and Tables

 

The amount of Figures and Tables should not be excessive. In general, an average of two tables and four figures per article is accepted, as long as these are necessary. If the work has more than this number of Figures and Tables, we suggest contacting the publishers before submitting.

 

The information in the tables and figures should not be repeated in the text.

 

They will be presented in separate sheets and files each, indicating in the body of the text with capital letter, centred, where they will be inserted. Only exceptionally shuffled boards will be included, these will be presented to simple space and body 10.

 

Tables should be submitted in MS Word or Excel format or its equivalent in OpenOffice.org. Tables sent in other formats will not be accepted.

 

In a separate file the legends of the figures and tables will be placed being their correlative numbering for each case. These should be in the main language of the text and in a secondary language (preferably English).

 

All illustrative material should be referred to as "Figure" and should have very good quality. Gray shaded tables will not be accepted, unless justified.

 

The maps must contain the indication of the geographical orientation and have a box with the reference at regional / provincial and country level.

 

All figures must have a graphic scale. The authors will accept the suggestions of the editors regarding the design of figures, maps, graphs and tables.

 

The photographs (should be referred to as Figure) must be sent in * .jpg or * .tiff format with a resolution equal to or greater than 300 dpi (dpi) and must not exceed a size greater than 1 Mb. They must conform to the box size of the journal (22 cm high x 15 cm wide). Can be sent in colour or greyscale.  Colour images will only be published in the digital version.

 

Acknowledgments

 

Optional. It will have a body of letter 12 and will be inserted at the end of the text and before the Bibliography.

 

 

  1. Bibliography

 

The bibliographic list will be arranged alphabetically and will not exceed 20% of the total work. Bibliographic references will be only those cited in the text.

 

The format specified in the Standards of the American Psychological Association (APA Standards 6th edition) must be followed

 

The use of programs such as Zotero or Mendeley is suggested to obtain the format of appointments under standards. https://www.zotero.org/; https://www.mendeley.com/

Each reference must be associated with a hyperlink that allows its retrieval. The use of persistent markers such as DOI, HANDLE or URIs is preferred. Failing that, URL addresses are accepted. For instance:

  1. Notes

 

The numbers of notes that are placed in the text must be in superscript and will have a body of letter 11 and will be inserted at the bottom of the page. It is recommended to limit its use to the essential and that its extension be minimal.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published or sent simultaneously to another journal (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the editor).
  • The text has a space and a half line spacing; the font size is 12 points; italic is used instead of underlined (except URLs).
  • This work complies with the ethical standards established for the Social and Human Sciences
  • Text and table and figure files are sent individually and none exceeds 2mb in size.
  • Along with the manuscript I will send a list of at least three possible evaluators (full name, email and institution) which I will complete in the "Comments to the Editor" section on the first page of submissions.
  • The file sent is in Microsoft Word or LibreOffice Writer format
  • The text meets the bibliographic and style requirements indicated in the Rules for authors / es , which can be found in About the Journal.
  • In this paper it is accepted that the received version will be reviewed in order to avoid any issue related to the plagiarism of other published or unpublished works. This will be done from specific software.
  • At the time of submitting the manuscript, it has been verified that the list of bibliographic references conforms to the APA Standard and that each one contains a hyperlink that links it to its URL / URI of origin. If there are alternatives regarding access to the digital resource, the use of persistent markers (DOI, HANDLE, etc.) is preferred.
