The black rot of the cucurbitaceas in the province of Cordoba

Abstract

Mycosphaerella citrullina (C. O. Smith) Gross, was determined as ethiological agent of the destruction of 12 Ha. of watermelon (Citrullus vulgaris Schd.) var. Charleston Grey, and with less damage in muskmelon var. Honeydew (Cucumis melo L.), near Cruz del Eje, Córdoba. This should be the first mention of "cucurbita black rot" in Argentine and without doubt for the provincé of Cordoba.
