Aetiology of frost and variation of its occurrence regime in the province of Córdoba (Argentina)

Abstract

There are two important sublets in the plannification of agricultural activity where frosts are present: its etiology and its statistic scheme. First the characteristic frost type in Cordoba is examinated, looking for in the dinamic process of air masses involved. Then the agroclimatic scheme of frosts for the 1968/87 period is compared with the first fifty years in the twentieth century one. It is found the extreme temperatures below zero at present are less intensive, while Rio Cuarto and Pilar minimum medium temperatures are different from those at the beginning of the century. The autumn frosts everywhere in the Province do not reach the 20% index of risk (ICK). In spring the problem results more frequent than this in Marcos Juarez and Villa de Maria del Rio Seco.
